Georgia Real Estate License: Salesperson

Requirements to Obtain a Salesperson License:

      • Be at least 18 years old.
      • Have graduated from high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school degree (GED).
      • Have completed and passed a criminal background check. This can be administered through the Georgia Crime Information Center.
      • Have successfully completed the 75-hour Salesperson Prelicense course.
      • Have successfully passed both the Georgia and National portions of the AMP Salesperson Real Estate Exam.
      • Have completed, signed and submitted the licensing application provided by the Georgia Real Estate Commission along with the required fee.

 

Salesperson Post-License: Requirements for First Renewal:

If you hold a Salesperson’s license and this renewal is your first since original licensure, you are required to complete the 25 hour Post-Licensing course during your first year of licensure.

      • This course will count for 9 hours of continuing education for your renewal period.
      • You must complete an additional 27 hours of continuing education during this renewal period.

 

Salesperson Continuing Education:

All Salespersons who hold an active real estate license and whose license number is above 100,000 are required to complete 36 hours of Commission approved continuing education during each four year renewal period. If your license number is less than 100,000 you are not required to complete continuing education for renewal.

A renewal period begins four years prior to the current renewal date.

Example:

If your renewal date is March 31, 2016, you are required to complete your continuing education between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2016. Continuing education completed before or after that date range is not acceptable for this renewal period.

Georgia Real Estate License: Employing Broker

Requirements to Obtain a Broker License:

      • Be at least 21 years old. 
      • Have graduated from high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school degree (GED). 
      • Have been licensed on active status for a minimum of three of the previous five years as a Salesperson.
      • Have completed and passed a criminal background check. This can be administered through the Georgia Crime Information Center.
      • Have successfully completed the 60 hour Broker Prelicense course.
      • Have successfully passed both the Georgia and National portions of the AMP Broker Real Estate Exam.
      • Have completed, signed and submitted the licensing application provided by the Georgia Real Estate Commission along with the required fee.

 

Broker Continuing Education:

All Brokers who hold an active real estate license and whose license number is above 100,000 are required to complete 36 hours of Commission approved continuing education during each four year renewal period. If your license number is less than 100,000 you are not required to complete continuing education for renewal.
