Minnesota Real Estate License: Salesperson
Requirements to Obtain a Salesperson License:

- Be at least 18 years old

- Submit to a background check and fingerprinting

- Complete 90 hours of education to include the following courses:

- Course I (30 hours)
- Course II (30 hours)
- Course III (30 hours)

- Must obtain certificates of completion after proctored exams in each course. Exams may be administered by a third party or by a proctor at our campuses in St. Paul or Bloomington.

- Course I must be completed and the proctored exam taken before scheduling the State and National Exam

- Courses II and III can be completed before or after exams, but must be completed before applying for license.

- Within 12 months of passing the exam, must apply for licensure

- Work for licensed broker

Salesperson Continuing Education:

- Each licensee must complete 30 hours by June 30th of the renewal year. Renewal periods are two years long.

- MN advises applicants to complete education by May 15 for timely reporting

- Applicants must complete the following required topics within the renewal period:

- 1 hour of training to specify in Agency Representation and disclosure
- 1 hour of training in state and federal fair housing laws, regulations and rules, other anti-discrimination laws (Note: this does not apply to Commercial Salespersons)
- Must obtain 3.75 or 7.5 hours of module training every license year per designated course by the state

Minnesota Real Estate License: Broker
Requirements to Obtain a Broker License:

- Have a minimum of 3 years experience as an actively licensed salesperson within the previous 5 year period prior to submitting an application

- Successfully complete 30 hour Broker Course

- Pass Broker’s Examination

- Within 12 months of completing the courses apply for a Broker’s license and pay the applicable fee

Broker Continuing Education:

- Each licensee must complete 30 hours by June 30th of the renewal year. Renewal periods are two years long.

- The Primary Broker must certify through the online renewal process that the licensee has completed hours
