New Mexico Real Estate License: Associate Broker

Associate Broker Prelicensing Requirements:

      • Must be at least 18 years old
      • Be a legal resident of the United States; state residency is not required
      • Successfully complete 90 hours of education to include:
          • 30 Hours – Real Estate Principles and Practices
          • 30 Hours – Real Estate Law
          • 30 Hours – Broker Basics
      • Note: All 90 hours must be completed before taking exam
      • If licensed as a salesperson or broker in another state, applicants will be exempt from completing the 30 hour Real Estate Principles and Practices and the National portion of the exam if they can provide a certified license history from their resident licensing jurisdiction
      • Pass State and National exam within 90 days from the first attempt at exam
      • Applicants have six months to apply for licensure upon passing both portions of the exam, or they will have to retake the exam
      • Complete background check and fingerprints

 

Associate Broker Continuing Education:

      • Renewals are every 3 years on or before the last day of the licensees birth month 
      • Per 16.61.13.8 all active and inactive Associate Brokers shall be required to complete a minimum of 36 hours of education to include:
          • 4 hour NMREC core course to be completed annually (will need 12 hours of this course)
          • 4 hour Ethics course to be completed once during renewal period
          • Of the remaining 16 hours, no more than 10 hours may be earned toward the education requirements with training category courses. All 16 may be earned with education category courses
          • The NMREC core course requirement will apply to those licensees who have not completed the eight hour mandatory course by December 31st, 2016
          • The NMREC course will have a unique course name and course number each year, including the year in which it is presented

New Mexico Real Estate License: Qualifying Broker

Qualifying Broker Prelicensing Requirements:

      • Supervisory Qualifying Broker candidates must have at least 4 years active experience as a licensed Associate Broker during the 60 month period immediately preceding the filing of the application
      • Non-Supervisory Qualifying Broker candidates must have at least 2 years active experience as a licensed Associate Broker during the 60 month period immediately preceding the filing of the application
      • Those qualifying under this ruling must document at least 4 years active experience as an Associate Broker and Qualifying Broker before being eligible to supervise other brokers
      • Complete 30 hour Brokerage Office Administration Course
      • Complete 8 hour Understanding and Using RANM forms
      • Complete 8 hours of Core CE electives
      • Attend one New Mexico Real Estate Commission meeting, rule hearing, or disciplinary hearing for at least 3 hours. Attendance may be by live meeting/hearing or by live or recorded distance broadcast
      • Complete background check and fingerprints

 

Qualifying Broker Continuing Education:

          • Qualifying Broker Refresher Course once during renewal cycle
          • Attend one Commission meeting
          • Once every renewal cycle must complete 12 hours of education in Property Management
