New York Real Estate License: Salesperson
Requirements to Obtain a Salesperson License:

- Be at least 18 years old

- Complete the 75-Hour Salesperson qualifying education course

- Prior to July 1, 2008, any applicant who completed a 45 salesperson qualifying course may complete the 30 hour remedial course in order to qualify for licensure

- New York state requires proctoring for the final exam at a location within the state of New York

- Exams should be scheduled once education has been completed, but days before desired exam date

Salesperson Continuing Education:

- Renewal periods are every two years from the date printed on the license. Licensees are eligible to renew up to 3 months prior to the expiration date.

- Must complete 22.5 hours of education to include:

- 3 hours of Fair Housing and/or Discrimination education
- At least 1 hour of Agency education
- Note: In initial two-year licensing term, salespersons must complete 2 hours of Agency

- A salesperson can complete an approved broker qualifying course and will receive continuing education credit for completion of the course. The broker course does not meet the mandatory 3 hour Fair Housing requirement

- Have been actively participating in the general real estate brokerage business as a licensed real estate Salesperson under the supervision of a licensed real estate Broker for a period of no less than 2 years, or have the equivalent experience for 3 years in the general real estate business
